Post-editing of
machine translation

When getting the gist is more than enough

What is machine translation?

Machine translation involves using translation software to translate a text. Google Translate is a great example of this.

What's the difference between translation
and post-editing?

Translation is carried out by a human to produce an accurate, well-written text in another language.

Post-editing involves using machine translation to translate a text, which is then edited by a human to make sure it's accurate and understandable. The important thing here is being able to understand the text, not how well it's written.

Is post-editing right for me?

Post-editing is great for understanding the meaning of a text, but it lacks the cultural knowledge and nuance that only a human can provide.

As a rule of thumb, if your text is going to be used in the public domain, we'd recommend a "human" translation service.
